Whistleblowing & Complaints

down-arrow

Any person who suspects or becomes aware of any illegal activity or instances of unethical behaviour, misconduct or wrongdoing by any person involved in any way with the S²Cities programme can bring this knowledge or suspicion to the attention of the programme partners.

You can notify the local implementing partner and/or the programme's global managing partner Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation (GIB).

How to report

You can report to the local implementing partner and/or to GIB. Depending on the particular situation and what feels appropriate, you can choose to inform either the local partner or GIB, or both the local partner and GIB.

To notify the local partner directly

Each local partner has its own established mechanism for handling reports. Refer to the contact details below and choose the appropriate contact for your location.

Note:

Notifying local partners may not allow for anonymous submission. Furthermore, GIB may not be notified or may not be notified immediately of complaints submitted to a local partner. GIB does not take responsibility for the handling or outcome of complaints submitted to partner organisations. If you believe your complaint needs to be brought to the attention of GIB, please inform GIB directly by following the instructions below.

To notify the S²Cities global managing partner GIB

You can inform GIB either anonymously or with your name and contact information. Any reports addressed to GIB are submitted to GIB’s Legal Officer, who is jointly responsible with GIB’s Chief.

You can choose whether to communicate your contact details to us. If you choose not to do so, your complaint will be submitted anonymously. Please be aware that we do not provide updates on anonymous complaints. If you choose to submit your personal information, it will be treated as confidential to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Provide personal information
  • Submitting an anonymous complaint may impact our ability to thoroughly investigate your concern. Due to confidentiality reasons, we are not able to provide updates or feedback on anonymous submissions, or keep you appraised of the outcome of your complaint.
  • If you choose to provide us with your name and contact information, we will treat that information as strictly confidential to the greatest extent allowed by law. We will not communicate your personal information outside our organisation unless required to do so by law, and we will not use your personal information for purposes other than associated with this complaint.
  • If your complaint concerns an organisation other than GIB, we will refer it to the relevant organisation for comment. Any personal information you have submitted will not be communicated to that organisation unless with your express permission, which we will request in advance.
  • If the complaint concerns a criminal offence, GIB will be under an obligation to refer the matter to the competent authorities. It may be necessary to include any personal information provided in the form.
